Aboveground Tanks
Our Aboveground Tank products include...
Facts you should consider...
Conventional Underground Storage Tank Technology and Designs have
recently encountered a variety of scrutiny primarily related to
the product’s inability to absolutely guarantee the prevention
of soil and groudwater contamination in the event of a tank “leak”
or product failure. With an anticipated product service life
of 20-30 years, many end-users, insurance companies, banks and
regulators have questioned the ability of conventional underground
tank products and systems to preclude, with absolute assurance,
product migration into the ground or groundwater supply. While modern
electronic monitoring equipment can indicate the presence of a leak
or tank rupture, the question still remains…” What are my options
now that the electronic monitoring system and sensor have indicated
a tank leak?…” The answer is clear…You must excavate and replace
the leaking tank!!
News you can use...
Recent events in California related to the presence of MTBE (a chemical
oxygenate additive to gasoline) in multiple groundwater aquifers
has clearly shown the limitations of conventional underground tanks
and tank systems. In an effort to obviate the concern for potential
environmental contamination and the associated liabilities associated
with steel and fiberglass underground tank products, many end-users
have turned their attention to the benefits of today’s Aboveground
Storage Tank (AST) products and technology.
Aboveground Storage Tanks are
providing a practical and economical solution to customer requirements
across the United States! Available in a multitude of sizes (5 gallons
to 40,000 gallons) and geometries (Rectangular & Cylindrical),
aboveground tanks provide a safe and reliable means of storing and
dispensing petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, heating oil, fuel
oil, kerosene, alcohol, etc.), fluid by-products and chemicals.
Like underground tanks, aboveground tanks can be electronically
monitored to detect leaks and product migration through the primary
shell of a double wall tank. What is unique to aboveground tanks,
however, is the ability to visually inspect the tank system to
verify the absence or presence of liquid product which has migrated
out of the primary containment structure. Visual inspection
with the “eyes” is the only reliable means of accessing the structural
integrity and condition of the tank or containment system. Prudent
end-users are not willing to risk their real-estate, their business
mortgage, their insurance coverage and their environment on the
ability of an electronic sensor (which may not always have power)
to detect a leak after it has occurred. Aboveground tanks allow
for a reliable and “pro-active” means of long-term inspection, and
if necessary, tank repair or replacement.
